The DIAA Qld Division would like to invite all members to two food molecular microbiology seminars, to be held at 1-3 pm on Monday, 9 August at the University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus, Physiology lecture theatre (building 63), room 360.

Dr. Angelika Lehner from the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene, University Zurich, Switzerland will speak about the environmental aspects and stress responses of Cronobacter spp. (former Enterobacter sakazakii).

Prof. Kathryn Boor from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, US will speak about mediating the switch from saprotroph to human pathogen: stress response and virulence in Listeria monocytogenes.

The DIAA Qld Division would like to invite all members to a techincal seminar on 9 August at 6pm. The seminar is free to DIAA/AIFST members and $10 for non-members.

The speakers will be Professor Susanne Knochel, who will speak about practical control of Listeria in the food industry and David Lowry, who will discuss advances in cleaning and sanitation within the food industry.

The seminar will be held at Food Spectrum Auditorium, 53 Fairlawn Street, Nathan.

The DIAA Qld Division would like to invite all DIAA members to a golf day at the Nudgee Golf Course in North Brisbane on Friday, 29 October. Shot gun start is at 11:30am, with food and drinks available before start and a drinks cart available on the course. The cost of green fees, pre-drinks and snacks will be covered by the DIAA Qld Division. Anyone requiring a golf cart will need to arrange it with the Golf Club directly and pay for it themselves.
